      Role:  Education Facilitator, Faculty of Children's Nurse Education, BRHC
      Qualified as RGN in 1985 and RSCN in 1986. Worked in various Staff Nurse roles in Central and North London predominately in Paediatric settings.
      Fulfilled sister and senior nurse management roles in General Hospital setting, set up Children's Home Care Team and completed 1st and 2nd degree studies part-time (Early 1990's).
      NHS Central Nursing Management, Change Management and HR Roles (Late 1990's). Completed studies for MBA except final dissertation as fell unexpectedly pregnant.
      Moved to Cyprus in 2003 to take Up Director of Nursing Role in new private hospital and 5 years later moved to nursing change manager role for another expanding private hospital.
      Returned to NHS 2016 as band 5 staff Nurse at BRHC. Joined Faculty of Children's Nurse Education as an Educator in 2019.

      Current Role Paediatric Nursing Associate Educator with special interest in Learning Needs and  the Mental Health and Wellbeing of colleagues and young people.

        Role: Lead Nurse - Faculty of Children's Nurse Education, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children

        Having worked in paediatric surgical nursing for over 20 years in tertiary centres, and both taught and led on professional courses, Rebekah now leads the Faculty of Children's Nurse Education at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and is an active member of the Paediatric Critical Care Society Education group. The Faculty supports education opportunities for all levels of nursing support and registrant roles, believing that providing quality education for all is an essential part of valuing both the person and the need for  professional growth of those providing care to children and families. Rebekah  has studied Human Sciences at graduate level, believing all nursing roles should have foundational knowledge in anatomy and physiology, and more recently gained an MSc in Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals.

              Arlo a three year old attends the vaccination clinic for his pre-school immunisations accompanied by his foster mum.

              Scenario 2 - Sam

              Sam a twelve year old is staying with his grandparents during half term. 

              He develops appendicitis and is admitted to hospital with suspected perforation accompanied by his grandfather. 

              Can Sam go to the operating theatre?

              Eddie is 5 years old and is in hospital. 

              His Mum has popped home to take his sibling to school. 

              You have been asked to obtain a blood specimen from him.

                      Karl Photo Speaker: Karl Howells, Health Play Assistant BRCH

                      Karl is a Play Assistant currently working on Seahorse ward (Paediatric Intensive care Unit). He has worked there for nearly 3 years and as a play assistant for over 5 years. His role involves providing and supporting general play activities and procedural distraction play on the unit. He aims to alleviate worries & fear using distraction play. He promotes development and provides play opportunities to prevent regression whilst in hospital. He acts as an advocate for children on the ward.
