IV Therapy Care and Management in Paediatrics
Overview:
- Participants will take part in a variety of theoretical sessions, practical workshops & simulations; examining the concepts underpinning the safe care and management of Intravenous Therapy in Children, whilst exploring different approaches taken across the South West
Participants will gain knowledge on:
- Anatomy & physiology underpinning IV Management.
- Preserving vessel health.
- Prevention and management of IV complications including; extravasation, occlusion management & central line associated blood stream infections.
- Appropriate selection of Peripheral and Central Access Devices. Safe parental nutrition practice
Target audience:
- Registered Nurses who administer IV Fluids and Medication to children via Peripheral and Central Venous Access Devices
