Reasonable Adjustments

January 2024 to December 2024

A learner may require reasonable adjustments to ensure that they can fully access the education they are booked on to.  A reasonable adjustment may be for the following examples (this list is not exclusive):

  • Specific Learning Difference (SpLD).
  • Unpaid carer to an ill or disabled family member. 

A reasonable adjustment may include the following (this list is not exclusive):

  • Reasonable adjustment to exam.
  • Reasonable adjustment to deadline.
  • Reasonable adjustment to teaching and learning.

Faculty of Children's Nurse Education (FCNE) can assist with putting reasonable adjustments in place. A learner is required to liaise with the event facilitator at time of education event booking to ensure that an adequate amount of time is available for reasonable adjustments to be implemented for event start.  If FCNE is not made aware of a learner's needs sufficiently far in advance of the start of the education event, it may affect FCNE's ability to provide appropriate reasonable adjustments to positively support the needs of the learner throughout their time learning with us.

A learner requiring reasonable adjustments is required to submit evidence to support their request for Reasonable Adjustment.  This may take the form of (this list is not exclusive):

  • A statement of need for an SpLD from an appropriate professional.
  • Evidence from the Department of Work and Pensions confirming an individual has been granted carer's allowance.
